History West Friendship, Maryland
The unincorporated community of West Friendship is an affluent semi-rural settlement located at the junction of Interstate 70 and Maryland Route 32. Based on Stein’s history (1972) land grants were provided to families whose descendants live in the area today. Families like the Warfield, Ridgely, Selby, Hobbs, Cross and Cissel have helped establish West Friendship today. During the 19th century the population of the community numbered fifty. Empty land soon gave way to the Thomas S. Cross General Store and Post Office. A one-room schoolhouse provided primary education for the residents.

Tony’s Pizzeria – Best pizza place in town. Do try the large sausage pizza and the cheesecake sub. Pizza is excellent, well done on the crust and perfect plus the sausage and sauce had good flavor. Cheesesteak is likewise delicious and the service was excellent.
Subway – Great sandwiches to-go or dine-in. Service is prompt and friendly. Nice option for breads whether you prefer toasted or not and good selections too for the dressing and toppings.

Howard County Fairgrounds – this is the home of the annual Howard County Fair and the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. There is also the Motorcycle Swap meet that is hosted several times a year.
