History Eldersburg, Maryland
The city was named after John Elder. There was a post office that served the community in April 1850 and located in the Howard District of Anne Arundel County. At the time the name was “Eldersburgh.” In 1851 however, Howard County was formed and the post office was transferred to Carroll County on October 28, 1871 but retained the “Eldersburgh.” It was shortened to the current Eldersburg in December of 1894.

Oscar’s Alehouse – Excellent service, food and drinks. Lots of family style appetizers and salads. The fish and chips, burgers and French dip are totally amazing. Do also try the cream of crab soup. Prices are fair.
Liberatore’s Ristorante – this is probably the best Italian restaurant in the county. Whether you eat in the dining room or sitting at the bar the service is absolutely fantastic. Try the caprese with the freshest mozzarella and deep red tomatoes, Burrata with capers and tomatoes. The chicken in white wine sauce is also absolutely fantastic.
Smokey’s BBQ Restaurant – they offer the best pit beef sandwich in the county. The fries are fresh and really good. Great value for money as you can eat well for under ten bucks. It is normally quite busy so come early if you are hungry.
Fun Things to Do in Eldersburg
Stratosphere Trampoline Park — You can have lots of fun with trampolines or play dodge ball with your friends. There is even a ninja course and mechanical bull ride that offers lots of fun. There is plenty of parking and is in a good location. Very accessible.
Hoppers Kid Zone — Kid friendly place with several different bouncers for small to big kids. There is a nice little play area for the little ones who cannot join in the bounce play. There is an option for hosting your kid’s birthday party here with pizza and cake too.
