History Clarksville, Maryland

Clarksville is an unincorporated community located in Howard County. It was named after William Clark, a farmer who owned most of the land on which the community stands. It is served by a postal stop that opened on July 4th 1851. The land included Jack Howard’s blacksmith shop, considered one of the few African American operated blacksmith shops in the country at the time.  In the 1930, Clarksville post office listed the number of inhabitants to 65.

Great Sage – Regardless if you are a vegan, vegetarian or meat eater, you will certainly have a superb meal here. Everything is perfect from the drinks and appetizers to the entrees and desserts. Do try the Avocado Toast, eggless omelette and the Spanish Frittata. The chocolate mousse is absolutely the best.

El Azteca – Choices here are solid, the combo meals offer diners a chance to try different things. The Guacamole is delicious as well as the chips and salsa. Always fresh. Great service with a smile.  Do also try their chicken mole enchiladas and the cheese enchiladas too.

Mint – The go-to place in town if you are looking for some authentic Indian food. The hospitality is warm and friendly, the desserts are yummy and there is also a live belly dance performance too. The buffet is fresh and with lots of selections. Very clean too.

Fun Things to Do in Clarksville

Breakout Games – This is an art heist spy mission where you have 60 minutes to breakout of the room using clues and solving puzzles.

Welling’s Stone House – visit this historic stone house located between Clarksville and Fulton.  The house was built on a 2,500-acre tract of land patented as “White Wine & Claret” in 1712 by John Dorsey.
